Junior-Intermediate PHP Developer

Deversus Software Inc., an up and coming web and software development company, is soliciting applicants for an in-house junior or intermediate PHP developer. This position will start as a 3 month contract, with the possibility of moving to full time.

This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of our company. The right candidate will be given the opportunity to advance into a more senior position as we grow over the next 2-3 years. We are young guys and provide a casual, fun working environment that is fast-paced and rewarding. Our office is conveniently located in the Main and Broadway area of Vancouver.

The successful candidate will be expected to plan, estimate, develop, test and deploy several web projects with minimal assistance. Please apply if you meet ALL of the following criteria:

• Minimum of 2+ years industry experience building custom web applications
• BSc. Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent post-secondary education
• Extensive PHP/MySQL development experience
• Thorough understanding of OOA/D/P
• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with the MVC design pattern
• Commercial development experience using at least one of CakePHP, Zend, SilverStripe, or Magento
• AJAX development experience using jQuery or Prototype and JSON
• Solid understanding of SVN and related concepts
• Experience building valid XHTML/CSS (table-less) web pages
• Solid understanding of the Unix environment and SSH
• Outstanding verbal and written English communication skills

Nice to haves:

• Experience with ASP.NET/C# 1.1/2.0/3.5 and SQL Server
• Experience using an ORM framework
• Experience with Cocoa Touch/iPhone development
• Experience with online credit card purchasing using Moneris, PSIGate, or MiraPay
• Familiarity with reading and writing functional specifications using Use Cases
• Knowledge of UML and ERDs
• Understanding of OO Design Paterns
• Apache/htaccess configuration and knowledge of rewrites
