Eco Crown Hospitality

Eco Crown Hospitality was founded by hospitality and accommodation professionals who aimed to make a difference. Eco Crown offers a unique Green Certification Program to businesses in the hospitality industry. Eco Crown helps these businesses reduce their environmental footprint by encouraging them to adhere to environmental standards. Eco Crown promotes its certification program with the incentives of reduced operating costs, environmental responsibility, and "green-friendly" marketability.

Andrea Speiss, CEO of EcoCrown Hospitality, contacted Deversus with the aim of streamlining the primary component of their business model. Eco Crown had been dissatisfied with their existing web provider and emphasized the importance of trust and accountability. After spending some time analyzing Eco Crown's business requirements, we began development on the project under a tight three week timeline.

Based on the technology infrastructure of the existing Eco Crown website, the application was developed using PHP 5 and MySQL. The end solution allows businesses in the hospitality industry to register, submit their property information, and gain access to the Eco Crown Certification Questionnaire. In order to complete the questionnaire, a secure online payment must be made with the amount pertinent to the business type (ie. hotel, lodge, etc.). Upon payment, the business owner can access the questionnaire, which is automatically graded as it is completed. The system also allows members to download helpful files, such as eco audit spreadsheets and check lists, manage their property information, and keep up to date on their payment status. The administrative back-end allows Eco Crown to upload files for a specific user or all users, browse and edit member data, browse and edit member questionnaires and browse revoked memberships. Finally, email updates are sent to the administrator weekly, so she can keep apprised of site activity. Current members are also notified via email should their yearly or semi-yearly fees become due.

Upon completion of the application, Andrea requested that Deversus become the dedicated IT provider for Eco Crown Hospitality. We have continued in that role since March of 2008, providing several updates and enhancements, as well as offering consulting services on how to better their web presence and improve the certification application.
